I went to Italy in 2024 to visit with my youngest child, who was taking stained glass classes in Siena. My oldest child, who was having a birthday at the time, joined us. We spent a little time in Siena and a little time in Florence. I was mesmarized. I couldn’t help but wonder how my life would’ve turned out if I had ended up in some place like Florence and pursued sculpture. While there for a week and a half, we toured Siena, took pictures, had many negronis, ate amazing food, stayed at a really unique Airbnb and made many drawings.
When I came back, in perfect scrapbook form, I stared at all of my saved reciepts and paper bags and wondered what I could do with them. The results, all combined, were a series of wanderings and in-moment captures. Some things were done on site, some were done after I got home and tried to pull together all of my memories.
Painted on the fronts of reciepts saved.
Painting of the back of the reciepts saved in the Santa Maria Della Scala painting.
Painted on site, as the sun changed and people walked around me.

In Florence, painted after coming home.
Ink wash, painted after coming home.
