As I started to make my way around Roanoke this summer, I was happily introduced to Annie Schultz and Rick Sheridan. In addition to sharing with me the tender story of how they met, we spoke for some time about their goals and programs at Art on 1st. They’re in a lovely space in downtown Roanoke at the corner of 1st and Kirk. Annie has her studio space downstairs, and Rick is setting up a photography darkroom for classes. They offer wall space for rent and curate shows for artists to display on their walls.
For their December show, they’ve chosen “Colors” as their theme. Considering the dull greyness of winter, I think this is a great idea. I’ve submitted a few pieces and they graciously accepted three. The show is on display Saturday, November 30, 2024 11:00 AM - Saturday, December 28, 2024 3:00 PM with an opening reception on December 6th.
I have three pieces that are on display (and for sale) in the “Colors” exhibition at the Art on 1st Gallery in downtown Roanoke. Maybe you’ll like one enough to purchase or at least put a vote in for the “People’s Choice” aware? Hope you can make it to downtown Roanoke to take a look.
